What Goes Where?

Yes, it's a lot of detail, but the more info you give, the more people will see your event notice. What Grows On in Rhode Island is thoroughly indexed so events will show up in many different views.

About the Fields:

  • Fields with asterisks (*) are required.
  • LOCATION is a room or a place, e.g., Conference Room C, Goddard State Park. Put the street address here, including town/city and state. It is required, and if the address is complete, you can make your event's location show up on a map.
  • TOWN/CITY, STATE is the way we make location indexing possible. Choose "NOT RI" at the bottom of the list for events outside RI, and be sure to change the STATE field.
  • INTENDED AUDIENCE (you can choose more than one) has several options so events can be indexed for interest groups. Be sure to add VISITORS if tourists might be interested in your event.
  • ORGANIZED BY and GROUP HOMEPAGE let people know your group name and website and give your organization publicity. People can find out more about you when you link to your own page.
  • WEB LINK is for the specific page where your event is listed on your website. Or you could use it for furhter information about your organization.
  • NOTES is the place to paste your main event notice. This field is indexed by Trumba, which means that keyword searches find words in this field. Use ADDITIONAL EVENT INFO for minor details rather than the event description. [If I could change the order on the form I would, but I can't!]
